Based on a quick search for static blog generators, the following would be the top options:

* Hugo
* Eleventy
* Pelican

There are a ton of based solutions. I'd much prefer a solution in a language I’m familiar with, thus Go or Python.

For Go: Hugo, Gozer, Journey,
For Python: ABlog, Hyde, Makesite, Nikola, Pelican, Stapy, Tinkerer.

For the first round of selection I will look at: 1) is the project active; 2) GitHub stars, 3) suggestions from Fediverse

@al3x very happy long(ish)time Hugo user here (@gohugoio)

You can get bitten/locked in by themes, so do some homework, but my git commit -> GH Action -> GHP website workflow is a joy.

cupid.devCUPID - for joyful code

@al3x also, Fathom for analytics and Hybor for comments (but I might end up ditching comments).

@al3x I just use jekyll and github (github.com/dashorst/martijndashorst.com) works pretty well: just write markdown posts, push and github's renderer publishes for me.

Only downside for me is no plugins.
