A very big open room with a polished wooden floor. At the far end of the room are 3 tall windows with curved tops and nice mullions (those bars holding the panes). Before each window, filling much of each, is a wooden statue of a human, possibly quite life-sized, of various figures in historical garb. Two more similar statues are on the walls between the 3 windows. The windows and the statues are reflected in a very pleasing manner on the glossy wooden floor. There are 2 open doorways on either side, within arches that match the shape and height of the windows. A small-ish chandelier hands from the ceiling. The statues are in fact ship's figureheads (that were affixed to the bows of sailing ships once upon a time) and are in the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA, USA.

@constantorbit I recognized the setting immediately.

A ships figurehead rears above us. It's a realistic carving of a woman wearing a flimsy light-colored dress. Her breasts are partly exposed, and her left leg is visible from the knee down.

@constantorbit I'm definitely overdue for a visit. It's been almost three years since I've been. I love Salem, too. What an interesting place.

@bodhipaksa It is! It's a shame it gets so overrun by Halloween stuff (almost year round now but of course especially avoid it like the plague in October).

There's so much more to Salem than the witch stuff.

I actually worked there for a short stint (6 months?) and it was a lot of fun exploring the city. Even thought about moving up there, I like the North Shore.
