Whoa, does YouTube actually honor some do-not-track setting now? Non-logged-in, I get a completley blank page, no recommended videos, with a prompt to search. Or is this just some UBO filter I have enabled?
@dalias not sure but I got that too recently
@dalias I've disabled my watch history, and I get a blank page. Zero recommendations. YouTube probably thinks this is such a bad experience that people will just reenable their history, but they're wrong. Now I only watch videos from channels I've actually subscribed to, and it's AMAZING. It feels like such a more deliberate, purposeful watching experience.
@dalias Yeah, I get that too in a private window until I search for or watch something. Rather pleasant, actually! But of course once you watch one video you start getting suggestions again, so I don't think it's honoring any do-not-track, just not making tracking assumptions based only on info they can get in a private window and not giving generic recommendations.
@unlambda This isn't private window. I'm just (very intentionally) not logged into any Google accounts except in container tabs for specific non-main-personal purposes. It's wonderful not being logged in to Google.
