@chort @wdormann i'm a software engineer. if i were considering at every point how any of my designs could be used to produce malicious behavior, then i would cease to be a software engineer and instead work in infosec.

@dalias @chort @wdormann as a good C librarian it better should be your duty to believe that this take of mine is irresponsible.

@lritter @chort @wdormann Sorry for being terse. Really tho we need genuine software engineers committed to producing stuff that's safe and robust not just halfway working under favorable conditions. We don't need them getting sucked away into infosec.

@dalias @chort @wdormann sounds great, this vision of a gifted terrorist who is also an excellent accountant / housekeeper. i'd love to meet them.

my first job was in infosec, it was quite formative and i don't regret it at all, but it wasn't very creative. now i do gamedev, and there's a good reason i don't dabble with network protocols [though still so many vectors - mods, for example]. i try to be as little a nuisance as possible.

@dalias if we want security by design (and we do) that is absolutely essential, from architecture through implementation and testing all the way to lifecycle management.
