Rarely have I nodded this much when reading an analysis of the systematic failure of the tech industry and our "market system" as a whole.
The unending need to cut cost (at all cost) to improve "metrics" that have nothing to do with creating sustainable, quality results... Yeah, it's bleak. It's terrifying.

... which is getting cut for AI, which is non-reproducible by design. Sigh. Ah well.

But see, open source funding translates into middle class jobs in Europe.
AI funding translates into billions for billionaires and the destruction of the environment through energy waste.
The choice is obvious.

And we all can cite dozens more example without even having to think hard.
I mean... I'm living through one of these cost cutting for the sake of you-know-who right now, as we speak.
And pointing this out likely increases the risk that I will be "affected by it".
