@evacide "We have no political beliefs. We believe in life and safety."

That is a political belief, though. People need stop being afraid to be political. They're obviously picking a side, just stick to it. Stop being afraid to piss off people who are pissed off by this.

@catraxx @evacide Is there a distinction between moral beliefs and political beliefs in your mind? Because I think what people usually mean with such statements is that their belief is not based on their ideas regarding collective action but regarding their sense of morality.

@catraxx @evacide They would say for example that in the case of capital punishment they're against taking a life as a matter of moral principles, not as a political stance regarding whether it's good as a society to be stricter on crime.

@kouk @evacide Morals are incredibly different, depending on what side of the political spectrum you ask. To say that "This is against my definition of morals" is in itself a political challenge. I know people would like to separate themselves from it but it really is next to impossible.

@catraxx @evacide Just because politics is correlated sometimes with morals doesn't mean that they are indistinguishable. Same with law, which also is often correlated with morals. One can have a legal or political position that may or may not be reconcilable with their moral senses.

@catraxx @evacide But I agree that we have a tendency to want them be reconciled. It's complicated, which is why I don't believe in "you are always on a political side".

@kouk @evacide Ok, how exactly do you mean to see your beliefs reflected in society then? I mean it's cool that the guy says "you should not do that", but why would anyone listen to him in any capacity, at all?

@catraxx @evacide If one said that others *should* listen to them or that their beliefs *should* be reflected in society then I agree that necessarily has a political element to it, a moral-political hybrid of sorts. Same as if I said the legal system should punish an immoral act, that's a hybrid moral-legal statement. For example there are those that believe abortion is immoral but are for keeping it legal.

@catraxx @evacide The line is blurry for sure, as saying something is immoral is saying that you think people should not do that. But it's not necessarily a political statement since it doesn't presuppose collective action, only individual action.

@evacide It's just amazing that Elon is an expert in fire management as well as rescue diving. And without any experience in either field!

Truly inspiring.
