My biggest complaint with #postmarketOS (well, #phosh really) is that while the keyboard is fantastic, I'm a terrible touch screen typist, and I've spent a decade leaning on gesture/swiping to make up for it. Having to actually type every character myself makes me wish I could just type using a number pad like back in the T9 days (but like "ABC" style; I never really vibed with T9). I do think turning off haptic feedback would probably help quite a bit though.
@gordoooo_z Regarding swipe input see https://gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/phosh-osk-stub/-/blob/main/doc/phosh-osk-stub.rst?ref_type=heads&plain=1#L286 and the thread around https://fosstodon.org/@badrihippo/113304999034923284
@agx Oh this is dangerous. One could probably experiment endlessly.
Tried osk-stub, and it's a good keyboard out of the box, but couldn't get a decent result out of swipeGuess with it. And it just vomiting every letter I slide over, in the very off chance that one of the suggestions is correct, is far from ideal.
I'm sure there's tweaking to be done there, but came across wvkbl, which allows repeated pipes, and I figured that would be more versatile. It's also just a ridiculously snappy kbd.
@agx Strangely enough, of all the experimenting I've done on this phone, this is the first time I've managed to break things this direly. It's currently booting to a black screen as a result of whatever I just did (I just changed the Exec in sm.puri.OSK0.desktop, lol???). I think there's probably something else going on
Hmm... I might be stuck. It's not even dropping me into tty. I wonder if this is recoverable from recovery or more likely fastboot? Or if I'm going to have to start fresh?
