Mastodon is looking at a couple of issues with YouTube links and this might be related. If you feel comfortable, would you be able to share on their GitHub (or we can on your behalf)?
OisaurRenaud Chaput (@renchap@oisaur.com)@rmondello@hachyderm.io Youtube recently made a change and stopped serving the video pages when Mastodon (or other software, AFAIK) is requesting it, probably using some fingerprinting. Mastodon builds a link preview based on the page that is served, hence what you are seeing (in German because your server is probably located in a datacenter in Germany, or Youtube thinks it should see german language).
We tried to get in touch with people at Youtube, but no success so far.
@hachyderm @thomasfuchs @jasonsando it's a global issue for all Mastodon servers.. here's one of the issues on GitHub about this: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/31308 this is why @renchap tries to reach out to YouTube themselves.
