Important to remember in conversations like that, when you’re arguing with somebody who’s really dug in, often you’re not really making a case to them at all. You’re making a case to the bystanders.

@tarheel @benroyce @StillIRise1963 Don’t think of it as winning and losing; think of it as norm-setting and example-making. Who gets pushback? Who gets a pass? Who gets cheered on? Who gets absolutely smacked down? People care a lot more about that than about who “won” a debate on Lincoln-Douglas terms.
