Managed to spend a couple of hours in the shop today working on a little bb bench.
But even this “small” bench is really tiring lifting and pounding and planing so now it’s time for a Sunday afternoon nap.
@jamigibbs exciting and inspirational, as I get ready to start building a bench, probably next week.
@folklore_adam Excellent! You will love the experience! Have you decided on a bench style?
@jamigibbs planning to go with a more traditional heavy bottom, similar to what you have upside down there, with a tortion box top. I'm in limited space and need something that will work for assembly and as an outfeed table, and that seemed like a good way to meet those needs. Some of the tortion box will be bolstered with solid wood, to create a surface for dog holes and a place to put a face vise.
It won't be fancy but will be a huge upgrade from my current old IKEA dining table.
@folklore_adam TIL you can use a torsion box for a bench top. Very interesting!
I was working on a couple sheets of plywood on saw horses before this so I feel your pain.
Good luck with the build!
@jamigibbs Looks nice and sturdy!
