Honestly, despite the ruckus happening at #Twitter #Reddit and other #SocialMedia, 2023 is the happiest I've been online.
That's because I discovered the idea of the #IndieWeb and also the #fediverse. I just feel more in control now and less manipulated by algorithms.
As a content creator, I feel less helpless & able to reach readers. :)
The ability to control your information flow is priceless!
@liztai 100% agree!
I also feel like it’s easier to connect with people and have a level of authenticity through communicating. There’s no incentive to “communicate for clout” since there’s no algorithm to push content out. And I’m here for it
@kylinnelson Totally! OMG I'm happy to just forget about SEO and Google for once when writing a blog post! I've become more authentic on my blog as a result. Totally here for it as well.
@liztai That’s awesome and it sounds refreshing to not have to play the SEO game!
I’m curious, are there any other apps in the fediverse that you have tried? And if so do you have a favorite?
@kylinnelson tbh I see no reason to explore any other app as I am not a heavy social media user in general
Though, with the Reddit fracas, i may explore its fediverse alternatives
@liztai Interesting! I'm only on Mastodon too, but the Reddit debacle was the final straw that got me to look at alternative social media apps.
