So my current annoyance with non-algorithmic feeds is that frequent posters like newspapers drown out and the small bloggers in the feed with a high signal to noise ratio.
On RSS readers it's a bit easier to separate things into folders, but on masto, it also means that if you don't constantly check the feed, you will miss things...
Fixing this mechanic in masto will help even more towards fixing the FOMO of social media.
@matzipan I've been wondering if accounts should be "rate limited" by default -- If someone posts more than n times per day, their posts are collapsed into one big post you have to manually expand
@tbernard that would still push the results down but it would help declutter, for sure

Use lists if your client supports that. This way you can replicate folder structures in some ways.
@chfkch I use toot and mastodon on ios and neither of them have this feature I would prefer and algorithmic solution of sorts though.
