i cant wait for the uk election to be over because right now the trans community is split with both sides thinking the other side is effectively turkeys voting for christmas.
With Starmer demonstrating he can be more Tory than Tories, he has a pretty good chance of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
For a former human rights prosecutor he has not impressed on that front.
Though I'm still holding out hope the tories are completely wiped out.
@maya_b yes, i would love him to have run an actually progressive socialist manifesto campaign but to give them their dues they have managed to keep their 20 point lead and kept themselves so close to the Tories with lack of any gaffes, own goals and kept themselves the slimmest possible from bieng a target on nearly anything that idk.. they have to fix the economic disparity in the uk and healthcare or we're going to be france in 5 years.
I know im not the target voter they're courting. I dont trust Starmer to not completely change his spots post election, he's a total snake of a politician but not morally bankrupt.
He definitely isn't the Starmer I forked out £25 for in the labour leadership contest. Or the Starmer that stumped for Remain
He's chasing some ... poll? ... focus group? ... something ... but yea I don't trust him, and wait and see would be terrifying if I were still in the UK
@maya_b I forget the right hand mans name, i was his multi year plan to actually return Labour to government after the destruction in 2019. Starmer was the best chance at getting the £5 idealist membership voters to back - then go on a long campaign of disenfranchising those same members who joined from Seamus Milne's orchestrated kidnapping of the party. Then consolidate message so it targets socially conservative red wall voters to heal Brexit divide, and Scotland voters.
@maya_b oh Morgan McSweeney. He's running Labour's election campaign as well.
oh that one. right.
Streeting? I can't remember either.
I also do hope Labour actually pulls off some beneficial change that people notice, so they don't go back to Tory one election later as Labour are "useless".
Scotland has no love for Starmer right now from what I can tell.
As for brexit, toss on pandemic, and no investment (no increase since june 24, 2016), that's my company thoroughly dead.
