No, I don't want Hunter Biden to be in jail. My life is not improved either way if he's pardoned or not pardoned. Stop centering him.
I'm centering the 2 million+ people unfairly in prison and jail under racistly applied and excessively harsh drug and weapons sentencing laws put in place by Biden.

There are 8.2 billion people on planet earth. Some other countries are supposedly draconian, and police states.
So tell me why 1 in every 5 prisoners on planet earth, is locked up in the US?
And why most US prisoners are locked up pre-trial?
Mainly for low level drug charges, pushed for by Biden?

@mekkaokereke Shit, that graph is mind boggling! I knew the US (unfairly) incarcerated a lot of people, but I didn't know it was this bad
The US is less than 5% of the world's population. But it has more than 20% of the world's prisoners. Most of those prisoners are objectively innocent. They're disproportionately Black. They were specifically put there by racist and unfair policing policy and sentencing laws, written by... Joe Biden.
Other than Reagan, there is no modern politician on planet earth more responsible for mass incarceration than Joe Biden.
Every year in US prison drops your life expectancy by 2 years
@mekkaokereke @bumblebeedc important to note that Reagan shouldn't get all the "credit" for the ramped up incarceration that occurred during his administration since Biden was mostly behind that, too -
Yup.
But even if you give Biden 100% full credit for the crime bill, and for sentencing, and for asset forfeiture... Reagan still comes out ahead. That man was so busy!

For example, even in 2024, the US has so many unhoused people with untreated mental health issues. Many of those people wind up in jail, for short or long stints. Reagan closed the mental health facilities.
@mekkaokereke @bumblebeedc But what's noteworthy is the legacy and who carried it -
Reagan left public service because he was debilitated. Meanwhile, Biden continued to chastise Bush Sr. on rising crime rates, was the architect of a *2nd* crime bill under Clinton and now, due to the Dem-backed Grant's Pass ruling, those same unhoused populations are at an even greater risk of exposure to policing.
These people, Joe incl., had the opportunity to reopen all those MH clinics and chose not to.
