#Holochain was thought by many (including myself) to be a "progressive / leftist / communalist" project. A counter-culture to #blockchain. Instead the presented evidence shows the intentional surveillance of official community spaces by the far-right influencer Moritz Bierling, supported financially and organisationally by HOLO (the company behind Holochain).
There are close links to a #HateFunding group 'Pluribus' as well as the #libertarian #FreeStateProject and hyper-violent #NaturalLawInstitute; and enabling interactions with prominent #WhiteNationalists found in Moritz' old Gab account.
To date, HOLO have refused to publicly distance themselves from him and have not acknowledged the evidence provided.
A noteworthy datapoint: this research represents a total of about 23 hours of work by a small group of concerned parties. I believe that the ease with which it was uncovered (and by how few of us) demonstrates how under-valued #antifascist work is, and how much resistance there is in #SystemsChange & #tech ecosystems to taking cultural and political matters seriously.
The rapid and brazen twisting of Holochain's "unenclosable carriers" into "uncancelability" should also say something about how safe hateful actors feel in #DWeb communities, and how boldly they will move when validated by the endorsement of powerful organisational figureheads.
The #Substack commentary and investigative work in my part of the fediverse has been largely reasoned and encouraging. I am hopeful that even deeper analysis, commentary & refutability of fascist organising patterns and beliefs will be possible with the hard datapoints presented here. I believe there is a lot to reflect on in #ToxicPositivity and #WhiteComplacency as well.
Publishing fascists is one thing- championing them, protecting them and helping to build #TheDecentralizedWebOfHate is quite another.

Any #Holochain adherents should look to my timeline for material on Substack. I'm confident that the critique, commentary & truths at play will be largely overlapping.
The hashtag #HolochainEmbracingFascism is offered as an anchor for further discussion, analysis, reporting and sharing content. My intention in making it a verb and an alarm signal is that writing can be socially and linguistically adaptive as the situation unfolds.
I will be monitoring it but also muting it for a while. Handling of these events has been devastating to me personally and has lead directly to a diagnosis of PTSD. The accusations, attacks and #RespectabilityPolitics are relentless; and people will latch on to anything they can to try to turn the person raising the problem into the problem. I need to stop trying to manage this conversation and give space for others to contribute their voices.
