Karsten 'kwade is quaid' Wade

Y'all : "Oh, sure, having a routine is supportive of me, that's easy. I just follow one and adjust when the routine gets broken."

NDs-like-me:

(past) "Ick, routines, I hate them like the cursed plague. Keep that evil sorcery away from me!"

(now) "My is the only way to relieve the suffering of time blindness and low self-esteem, so no matter how unnatural it all feels, YOU WILL HAVE TO PRY MY ROUTINE FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS."

@quaid
I need to get to this “now” place :)

@KarenBethany Well, there's a third quote that can't be done within a character limit, but I can represent it like this:

(internal) [a heavily spiced hot mess and barely articulated cacophony of highly emotional voices responding to all past harms related to routines, expressed as predictions of how the future is going to always be until I am consumed by the existential nothingness that is unfillable, as I feel my will tilt toward the land of the hungry ghost]

@quaid Routines are very helpful for #ADHD people, but often they have to be imposed from the outside, because self-control is rarely an ADHD strong point. My mother's ADHD went unnoticed as long as we were in school because that forced her onto a schedule that helped her to function. Personally, I've always been rather rigid with routines, but I'm discovering that this might be the #ActuallyAutistic me rather than the ADHD me.

@lmgenealogy That jibes with what I've heard or known.

For some Autistic folx I've known it seems like a diametric position where the NT again misunderstands what is "easy" but in this case the difficulty is in letting go of a schedule or elements of it without it feeling like your life force is being sucked away by someone's "suggestion".
