Long ago, I was an angry young man who railed against all the injustices of the world, but now time has passed, I have matured and learned so much more about things, and now I am an angrier old man.

@robpike I feel the same way. Maybe this is the way everyone feels as they age, but I do feel like things have gotten significantly worse since I was a young person.
@MHowell @admin @robpike we have gay marriage, supercomputers every where, Wikipedia and arxiv and mathoverflow and less child sexual abuse and less racist violence (thanks cell phones) and the Catholic Church is trying to apologize for that and less crime and while the labor/capital balance needs adjusting and the carbon burn needs to stop, and racists need to again be shamed, we are mostly done with the brutal violence of the 1950s racists, country invasions, and coups. Not that I am not mad.

Darcy @swelljoe I think people *do* get more conservative as they age, but only if you use the right definition of conservative. MAGA is *not* conservative; it's radical. Conservatives prioritize comfort, continuity, order, decorum ... and there are plenty of "liberals" like that. Very frustrating for people who still believe in fighting for justice.
@PenguinJunk @robpike I think it's simply that rich people live longer, and rich people like low taxes, even at the expense of public well-being. So, polls of old people lean conservative because working class folks are less likely to make it to "old".

@robpike right?! People told me I would get more conservative as I got older. I’ve experienced exactly the opposite.
@robpike I was a lot grumpier when I was younger. I was also working. Go figure lol
@robpike they told me i'd get more right wing as i aged. instead I became an anarchist.
