200 days of programming in Union Square
I live less than a mile from Union Square and you could not pay me to go hang out there. It's just the most boring and least fun part of the city. I don't think inorganic 'space activation' will help. There's just no 'culture' there beyond... corporate stuff. Very little good food or cafes. I don't know why they want to revitalize it so badly (I know why, commercial real estate)

I wandered around tonight to see what the winter walk dealio was.
It was: a let down.
A guy on a Zamboni on the ice rink was probably the most interesting thing?
Some xmas tree and menorah in giant form.
A couple of stages: with no performers! Just big speakers playing crummy Muzak (wirelessly? Bluetooth?)
Some absolutely unappetizing food trucks.
Someone selling overpriced cocktails.
At least I didn’t waste a lot of time wandering, it was sparsely attended.
The best part was probably just having some streets closed and made available to foot traffic.
