I always told people ‘no matter where you are in the U.S. if it’s a national park, even if it is very remote, no matter where where you’re camping there’s always toilet paper in the bathroom’

I don’t think I can say that anymore

Back to back country, and digging holes

It’s mostly a joke (coz I use a bidet that I bring) but I was always impressed by US national parks. They were incredible. Now.. all of this, for what. (To sell for parts)

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io I’m trying to allow myself to feel my emotions (without letting them overwhelm me) so that I can be proactive and use these emotions to do something positive and useful

But reading this is the second time today I’ve almost had my anger overwhelm me, instead, because of how blatant and harmful and awful and…

@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io no no! You don’t have to apologize for anything! I specifically choose to read this, that’s on me. I knew it was possible.

It’s just the scale of the damage and destruction and how far it will extend. It’s just… overwhelming. And I can’t help but think of the people I know who voted for this, who I know for a fact voted for this, and it’s impossible to talk to them, or get them to watch what’s actually happening, and by the time they start feeling the effects so many bad things will have happened and I just get angry. Angry and frustrated.

And anyway, you have nothing to apologize for. At all! I knew what I was clicking… and also I enjoy reading your posts about food, and Singapore, and the experience of being a queer immigrant in so many places, and hearing about your work at the aquarium, and your thoughts on the U.S. and other places. Even if you shoved this article in my face and said “READ IT AUDREY” (
😂) I’d still be coming out ahead here : D

@aud @skinnylatte it's gutting because this is...ours, and we're watching someone just take a massive shit on it

Sorry for being vulgar

@secretasianman @aud this whole thread is about poop so that’s ok

@skinnylatte the lack of wide spread bidets is a clear indication that the US is in no way a developed nation.

@skinnylatte Yosemite was important to four generations of my family. I was looking forward to the Tuolumne Meadows campground reconstruction. Now. who knows?

@skinnylatte Wait help me out with "I use a bidet that I bring."

I installed bidets at home and it's made travel much more difficult.

Also obviously holy shit dumpster fire stupidity in all directions rn.

@mikeolson Brondell gospa! Or the tushy! Lots of options, better than using a bottle (has good aim and controls flow well)

@skinnylatte Once again, I learn never to underestimate engineers.

🙏

@mikeolson bidet engineers I admire as much as cat litter chemists (a real job)

@skinnylatte @mikeolson ok. Ordered. That’s a brilliant thing.

@skinnylatte @mikeolson one of the things that confused some of my coworkers when we were in India was the presence of hand sprayers in every bathroom, even office ones. It was amusing to explain.

@petrillic @skinnylatte @mikeolson We have bidets installed on all of our toilets & I really miss them when i travel, so I'm ordering this travel bidet RN! The USA is such a backwards country with our lack of bidets! Thanks for the recommendation 🫶

@CosmicTraveler @petrillic @mikeolson I’m glad that my complaint about fascism and plunder led to some good bidets being purchased. Some might join these dark times

@skinnylatte @CosmicTraveler @mikeolson it is so hard to fathom. I’ve spent so much time in national and state parks, that I cannot imagine why other than strip mining the country for personal gain.

It’s 3.4% that we hopefully give to our children and their children.

But then far too many cannot imagine any act that is not purely selfish.

@CosmicTraveler @skinnylatte @mikeolson backwards about our backsides (and front sides)

@skinnylatte I hate that we live in times where I can't be sure whether this is a new thing, or something I already knew about 😒

@skinnylatte ahhh those are my people! (quite literally, as i live there, but also spiritually)
