I just want to pause for a moment to appreciate the fact that we have this distributed #socialnetwork and don’t need to fear it being taken away or monopolized. I think that is the best outcome out of the last several years. I am excited by the potential of the #fediverse to help communities weave together patchworks of resistance and subversive thinking, and eventually swarm together to foment societal transformation. We have barely scratched the surface of this capacity.

If you think trump won’t have musk spying on us through the internet and phone systems you’re wrong. Everyone they can lock up in their pay to play prisons will become slave labor. Oh sure, it can’t happen here. Give it six months and ask 11M Hispanics what they do all day
@suzannealdrich I couldn't agree more. Instances here can self-select, by refusing to federate, among instances that contain content they prefer not to get, "protecting" members. Isolation from "The Rest" of the broader community is easier to enable.
.... conversely, I do not enjoy pointing out the necessity of a distributed social network.
