Getting my Lüften on today, the house started to feel a bit too stuffy and dusty, so time to get all those windows open while the weather isn't too bad.

I've got some modded IKEA air quality sensors around the house, reporting into #HomeAssistant, so it'll be interesting to see what it does for those stats.

For anyone interested, i've got 3 VINDRIKTNING modified with ESP8266s and flashed with ESPHome. The mod itself is three wires attaching to some test points on the board

Quick, simple, and easy to do. IKEA does sell 'smart' versions now but i've not investigated them, also they're a lot more expensive than just the basic one and a ESP...

@unixorn @nikdoof @homeassistant Same. If on the other hand they made a cheap CO2 sensor...

It’d be great if they made a cheap zigbee CO2 sensor so we could embed a running and use the co2 sensor as a case and parasitize its power supply

@unixorn @nikdoof @homeassistant From what I've read the actual CO2 sensors are pretty expensive compared to almost any other.

Good quality NDIR sensors are expensive. There are less expensive sensors that infer CO2 from other measurements, but they tend to be inaccurate.

IKEA would have economies of scale most smarthome manufacturers don't, but yes, the decent sensors are expensive.

I can always hope 😃
