Stefano<p>Went to the 2025 Montreal audiofest.ca today with a friend. What a feast for the ears and eyes. So many amazing systems and as we walked from room to room, the variety of different high-end audio equipment was shown off with a myriad of different types of music. The high-light was the Macintosh system running Sonus Faber Homage speakers. My favorite components by far were the Greek made Lab12 amp &amp; pre-amp combo. I had never heard of them and they just blew my away. <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>audiophile</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/hifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hifi</span></a></p>
Howard Cheng<p>Okay, so is anyone else like me in that I have different sets of headphones / IEMs for different genres of music?</p><p>I wouldn't class myself as an <a href="https://mstdn.wherehowardgoes.com/tags/audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>audiophile</span></a>, but I can appreciate the different tonalities of different sets of headphones / IEMs which match certain genres better than others.</p><p>Or maybe I should learn to EQ?</p>

BT<p>Hey <a href="https://tilde.zone/tags/audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>audiophile</span></a> peeps - I'm struggling to understand what I need for my home audio setup.</p><p>I'm not running anything special at all.</p><p>I've got an Audio Technica LP60BT (from around 2016 or so) with a 3.5mm out set to line.</p><p>I've got two Dayton Audio B652-AIR speakers that are rated as "40W RMS/75W max". I've seen some kind of mention of 80W (I'm guessing both combined aka total power).</p><p>I'm looking at this Fosi Audio and it mentions 50W of power per channel. Does this mean the amp would have ~10W of headroom? Herr MontagHehe, because of the post before - now <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/PinkFloyd?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PinkFloyd</a> content :-)<br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/TheDarkSideoftheMoon?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TheDarkSideoftheMoon</a> is the eighth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/CapitolRecords?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CapitolRecords</a> in the US and on 16 March 1973 by Harvest Records in the UK. Developed during live performances before recording began, it was conceived as a concept album that would focus on the pressures faced by the band during their arduous lifestyle, and also deal with the mental health problems of the former band member <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/SydBarrett?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SydBarrett</a>, who had departed the group in 1968. bgrier 🇨🇦 🍁<p>5. Final Thoughts &amp; Lessons Learned 💭</p><p>The refoaming process was successful, though it came at a higher-than-expected cost. The foam replacement kit was ordered from a well-renowned shop in the U.S. for approximately $50. However, a shop in Vancouver was later discovered that offers better pricing, though their selection may not be sufficient for larger speaker restoration projects in the future. <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/SpeakerRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SpeakerRepair</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/VintageAudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VintageAudio</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/RefoamProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RefoamProject</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AudioDIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AudioDIY</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Audiophile</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/3dPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3dPrinting</span></a> [5/5]</p>
bgrier 🇨🇦 🍁<p>Update and final thoughts - Refoaming dbPlus 440 Speaker Surrounds<br>1. Initial Condition</p><p>The dbPlus 440 speakers were in poor condition before the refoaming process. The foam surrounds were cracked, crumbling, and in some areas, entirely missing. The cabinets, while aged, remained structurally sound and only required minor dusting. Notably, extra screw holes were found on the driver mounts, indicating that the drivers had been remounted at some point. Since both speakers were a matched set, it is unclear whether the drivers were replaced during manufacturing or in a later repair. <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/VintageSpeakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VintageSpeakers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AudioRestoration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AudioRestoration</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/DIYAudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIYAudio</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Audiophile</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/3dPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3dPrinting</span></a> [1/5]</p>

Colin Purrington<p>Audiophiles, can I haz help? I snagged some old components so I can play CDs, but the left speaker crackles and is a tad underpowered compared to right. Issue persists when I switch speakers, so it's not the speaker itself. Is this fixable? Video has the left speaker isolated. Optimus STAV-3370.
