There's a sort of washed-out look in brighter areas, but still the vibrant fungal aesthetic is a unique take on stereotypical medieval fantasy settings.

Michael VanceI think having more continuity of biomes really helps with verisimilitude as well, it's very game-y to have such crazy distinctions of zones that are "adjacent" in game space, even if they are separated by a good deal of space on a world map. Michael VanceIn the end I care more about exploration and sense of world so Avowed takes it.I find the desire to make such fully distinct biomes a weird one. Oblivion and Skyrim’s approach to these is so much more subtle and enjoyable vs the FOREST SWAMP DESERT LAVA partition that Avowed followed.
