"Federal judge says she will temporarily block billions in health funding cuts to states"

apnews.com/article/trump-covid

"A federal judge will temporarily block President Donald Trump’s administration from cutting billions in federal dollars that support COVID-19 initiatives and public health projects throughout the country."

Detail from the last paragraph - this administration is now facing 150 lawsuits! Probably more on the way…

Yup, looks like we really are having a Spring #COVID wave in #NYC!

At least #COVID19 hospitalizations are still well below 6 per lakh per day. If they don't rise much further, and flu and RSV cases continue to drop, the total hospitalizations should stay under 6 per day, which is my threshold for going into Outbreak Mode.

#CovidIsNotOver and #COVIDisAirborne so I still #WearAMask in crowded places like elevators, trains and buses. #MaskUp in doctors' offices, pharmacies and grocery stores!

Was telling co-worker that I received free #covid19 tests from government. Gave her link to USPS site, but now when you click on the order button, it takes you to the ASPR web site with no explanation. Found this news article msn.com/en-us/news/us/covid-19 and this site covidtests.gov/ which says "The free at-home COVID-19 test distribution program is not currently accepting orders."

www.linkedin.com#covid19 #hybrid #rto | Augie RayWhat might have happened in 2020, and keeps on happening, that could have caused disabilities in the workforce to rise so abruptly and continue to rise? It's a mystery, I guess. In April 2020, there were 2.2 million American women with a disability (16 to 64 Years) in the US. In February 2025, there were 3.5 million. Some random facts apropos of nothing: - Despite being declared "over," #COVID19 continues to surge multiple times a year. - Women are more susceptible to Long COVID than men. (https://lnkd.in/gincCyEW) - COVID has killed between 600 and 1,000 Americans a week each week thus far in 2025, resulting in 10,884 deaths in three months (https://lnkd.in/gZEQSWZH). - COVID damages brains (https://lnkd.in/gmwi5FBw). - COVID damages immune systems (https://lnkd.in/gW5cyQXV). - COVID damages hearts (https://lnkd.in/gdnHsqJc). - Despite the protection it offers, fewer than 25% of Americans have been vaccinated for COVID in the past two years (https://lnkd.in/gCNs7qW4). We can ignore COVID and pretend it's gone, but it won't ignore all of us. We are rolling the dice with our brains, hearts, and immune systems. We can, however, shade the odds in our favor by: PERSONALLY: Getting vaccinated as recommended, wearing masks while traveling and in crowds, and avoiding crowded indoor spaces, particularly during periods of high viral activity. BUSINESS: To protect employees and customers, improve the quality of air in workplaces and commercial spaces, adapt agile work plans that shift back and forth between #hybrid and  #RTO practices, if possible, as risks rise and fall, and encourage ill people to stay home rather than reward presenteeism. No one is urging you to lock yourself in your home. But for the same reason you wear a seatbelt in the car and a helmet on a bike, we should recognize and limit the ongoing risks COVID is causing to individual health, business operations, and the economy.

#COVID19 affects sperm quality. Study: "COVID-19 was associated with poor sperm quality. After the infection, patients showed lower total sperm count, lower percentage of grade A sperms, lower progressive motility and lower total motility and higher DFI (DNA fragmentation index) than before the infection, while the negative controls showed the opposite changes."

NatureCOVID-19 infection was associated with poor sperm quality: a cross-sectional and longitudinal clinical observation study - Scientific ReportsTo ascertain whether COVID-19 infection affects sperm quality and measure the scale of the effects. A cross sectional study and a longitudinal study were conducted during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (from September 7th 2022 to late January 2023) in China. 604 patients participated in the cross sectional study; 140 in the longitudinal study with 149 unaffected natural controls. The cross sectional study included participants who produce semen sample after COVID-19. The longitudinal study included COVID-19 positive participants who could provide semen samples before and after the infection. In addition, patients unaffected by the infection who could provide two consecutive semen samples over the same period were included as controls for the longitudinal study. Conventional sperm quality parameters including sperm count, motility, morphology and more recent parameters such as sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) and sperm chromatin immaturity were observed. In the cross sectional study, the exposure group demonstrated significantly lower total sperm count (159.58 × 106 vs. 185.42 × 106, P = 0.042), lower percentage of grade A sperms (5.37% vs. 8.45%, P = 0.009), lower progressive motility (24.74 ± 14.96% vs. 28.73 ± 16.65%, P = 0.023), lower total motility (32.04 ± 18.03% vs. 36.91 ± 20.86%, P = 0.022), and higher sperm DFI (17.50% vs. 11.75%, P = 0.030) than the controls. In the longitudinal study, after the infection, patients showed lower total sperm count (131.80 × 106 vs. 173.63 × 106, Δd = -20.49 × 106, P = 0.018 ), lower percentage of grade A sperms ( 2.61% vs. 8.50%, Δd = -3.18%, P < 0.001), lower progressive motility (19.82 ± 13.68% vs. 24.88 ± 14.97%, Δd = -5.07 ± 11.94%, P < 0.001) and lower total motility (26.64 ± 17.35% vs. 32.25 ± 18.69%, Δd = -5.62 ± 14.30%, P < 0.001) and higher DFI (32.10 ± 21.30% vs. 26.49 ± 18.54%, Δd = 5.61 ± 13.71%, P < 0.039) than before the infection, while the negative controls showed the opposite changes. Finally, in the longitudinal study, after the infection, 59.29% of the COVID-19 positive patients showed deteriorated sperm concentration, 57.86% deteriorated total sperm count, 71.43% Grade A sperm, 65.00% progressive motility, 69.29% total motility, and 75.00% sperm DFI, while the changes in negative controls were all less than 40% (P < 0.002). COVID-19 was associated with poor sperm quality. The findings would be useful for clinicians to manage men with fertility problems who suffered COVID-19.
