Happy #nowrooz.

The first day of spring and the Persian new year.

Just for those who don't know the scientific background of how the new year is calculated and the moment of "Sal Tahvil" (delivery of the year, or handover of the year).

#Khayyam did this in 11th century, loooong before westerners even admitted that the earth revolves around the sun.

The #metamathematics - isn't it #metalogical?!?

- a setting of the #ontology of #mathematics or #metalogics -

Now that I have tried to take a look behind or in front of physics in the form of #metaphysics, a fundamental consideration of #mathematics as #metamathematics is now due. In this context, I will of course also address the well-known #fundamental #crisis of mathematics.

Happy #Nowruz to all who celebrate. Makes much more sense to me to celebrate the #NewYear at the beginning of spring on an astronomically significant day rather than on some odd, astronomically insignificant day in mid-winter. I mean, what’s up with that anyway? So to celebrate Nowruz, which BTW is observed by an enormous population including in Iran, Central and South Asia, I’m posting a short video memorial to one of the greatest #mathematicians ever, who happened to be an #Iranian woman, Maryam Mirzakhani. The first woman to win the Field’s Prize, math’s equivalent to the Nobel, Mirzakhani broke barriers and forever changed her chosen field. A Harvard graduate and former professor at both Princeton and Stanford, she deserves more attention than she gets. Regrettably, she died far too young at 40. May the new year bring us more genius minds like hers. #math #mathematics #STEM #WomenInSTEM #science

"The Lockean recoinage was assisted by Locke's old friend, the great physicist Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727) who, while still a professor of mathematics at Cambridge from 1669 on, also became warden of the Mint in 1696, and rose to master of the Mint three years later, continuing in that post until his death in 1727. Newton agreed with Locke's hard-money views of recoinage." mises.org/library/book/austria #newton #isaacnewton #locke #johnlocke #rothbard #aphet #economics #money #soundmoney #mathematics

❝And if we don't [keep our stories straight], who puts us away?❞

One's answer, or at least one's initial response to that question will turn on how one feels about formal realities. As I understand it, reality is that which persists in thumping us on the head until we get what it's trying to tell us. Are there formal realities, forms which drive us in that way?

Discussions like those tend to begin by supposing we can form a distinction between external and internal. That is a formal hypothesis, not yet born out as a formal reality. Are there formal realities which drive us to recognize them, to pick them out of a crowd of formal possibilities?

@Jenny_Do

It turns out Jenny hit the nail on the head. After 35 years of research, trying everything before this, here it is: The reason or purpose in life for Human Beings is Mass Suicide. Take chestnut!

It is not just a family, but a sequence of families of aperiodic tilings! For each integer n >= 2, and real x such that n-1 < x <= n, the triangle with side lengths (1, x, n) can be dissected in (n+1)² similar triangles (some reflected) which produces aperiodic tilings. First figure shows the dissection for n=3, next one a zoom into a tiling of right triangles (1, 2√2, 3). Furthermore, when the triangle is isosceles (x=n), another sequence of aperiodic tilings exists (whose first instance when n=2 is referenced in the previous post). Third and fourth figure show the tilings after 2 substitutions for n=2 (the previously known one) and n=3.
Should I try to publish a paper about this finding?

How powerful is #Gemini? Besides general languages (such as #Mandarin, #Japanese, and even #Cantonese), it is capable of understanding #mathematics and programming languages. It can also generate the codes for simple 3D objects. For mathematics, Gemini is capable of generating latex file and compiling it into .dvi file and converting it to .pdf. And it is capable of understanding .tex, .dvi. and .pdf files. #AI

@ConditionalCoder
The phrase you may be looking for is "non-associative".
Also, note the difference between the binary operation of subtraction and the unary property of negativeness for which we use same symbol.

(+15) - (+5) - (+1) = (+9)
(+15) + (-5) + (-1) = (+9)

(+15) - ( (+5) - (+1) ) = (+11)
(+15) - ( (+5) + (-1) ) = (+11)

Another fun example of non-associativity is in exponentiation. :-)
