Ian Rose<p>The Tunnel 5 fire (Columbia River gorge / Skamania County, Washington) has burned at least 10 homes, threatens 250, and has already evacuated 1,000 people. Grandma&#39;s house is a short walk away from ACTIVE F***ING FLAMES and she won&#39;t leave. Rakesh<p>Watching the twitter experience today of the <a href="https://toot.community/tags/Tunnel5Fire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tunnel5Fire</span></a> in WA today was a reminder about how indispensable twitter was for emerging information, and how broken it is today for that purpose. A whole generation of PIOs depended on that platform that is now chaos.</p>
