Florian
Watching a video on the new third-party keyboard support for #KompleteKontrol. I can already say this is not going to be great for most fully #blind #musicians mostly because actually browsing through your entire KK library is not supported. You can browse through presets once an instrument is loaded, you can usually modify plugin parameters although that isn't always the case for some Kontakt instruments apparently, you CAN do a search and move through the seaerch resuls though, so provided you can do accessibly do a search that hacks around that issue. The main thing I'm not sure about is, amusingly, if you can toggle #accessibility support. I'm leaning towards probably not, so you'd need Bobby from down the block to hook up their KK keyboard and turn it on for you but after that I do think it may actually talk if you use a 3rd-party controller :)

This guy on Reddit made some foldable chess sets. Standard and blind accessible versions certified by the International Braille Chess Association ready to print with all pieces included. Pretty neat stuff. It works the same way as one of those wooden chess sets does, with elevated pieces for white and concave for black with peg holes so that the pieces don't move while you're touching them. 🇨🇦Samuel Proulx🇨🇦
So an update on Guide: I've exchanged some long emails with Andrew, the lead developer. He's open to dialogue, and moving the project in the right direction: well-scoped single tasks, more granular controls and permissions, etc. He doesn't strike me as an #AI maximalist can and should do everything all the time kind of guy. He's also investigating deeper screen reader interaction, to let AI just do the things we can't do that it's best at. I stand by my thoughts that the project isn't yet ready for prime time. But as someone else in the thread said, I don't think it should be written off entirely as yet another "AI will save us from inaccessibility" hype train. There is, in fact, something here if it gets polished and scoped a bit more. #blind #screenreader #a11y
