Thinking of getting a refurbished Dell or Lenovo laptop to run linux on. Mostly to organise and process photos, but also some light CAD. I'll probably look for a laptop with 32gb ram.

The question is how much I should consider processor generation? Should I avoid laptops that are older than 11th gen intel processors?
Gen 9 and 10 are considerably cheaper, but I would like the computer to last a couple of years.

UPDATE: went with this one, thanks to everyone who replied!!!!

umm... looking for laptop-buying advice!

I might need to buy a laptop soon-ish, but I don't know a lot about mobile cpu series... or even laptop brands in general lmao...

my budget is somewhere around €300/400 (willing to go a little over budget if it gets me a significant performance increase). Considering new and used options!

Gonna run Linux on it, and I'm mostly going to use it for development (computer engineering student) and web browsing. Good battery life and a good screen for occasional outside viewing are my priorities, really.

Basic Gaming/3d modelling/video editing are definitely secondary, and the low budget gives me little hope about achieving any of them, so they're definitely not needed.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply!

~Boosts appreciated!~
