#IndependenceDay in Estonia.

The Singing Revolution.

In 1947, during the first song festival held after the Soviet occupation, Gustav Ernesaks wrote a tune set to the lyrics of a century-old national poem written by Lydia Koidula, “Mu isamaa on minu arm”.
This song miraculously slipped by the Soviet censors, and for fifty years it was a musical statement of every Estonian’s desire for freedom. [after Ago Koerv]

It was still fun though. Dean Devlin has a knack for making awful/trashy sci-fi that one enjoys in the moment nonetheless.

The Ark television show, now with two complete seasons, definitely fits that mould. Fortunately, it delivers messaging that’s much more aspirational and Star Trek-like. Which is why I have been a booster for it here.

Some of the worst CGI pixelated ship models since B5. The title sequence looks like it was made in another century. The production design is aggressively dreary to the point you can believe the ships were thrown together from printed pieces in a rush. But the show overcomes that in its own weird way.
