My little window into the history of a wood pasture in southern Scotland.
Working on ageing tree cores from Dairy Wood near Moffat for @bordersforesttrust to help unravel the history of the wood and inform its future conservation management.
This is part of an ash core under the microscope, revealing its lovely clear ring-porous tree-ring structure.
Last week, we had the chance to visit Kelin and Pico de los Ajos, among other Iberian sites, during the research visit of Ole Risbøl from @ntnu. Special thanks are due to our team members Xelo Mata, David Quixal, and Agustín Diez from @FacGeoiH and @ArqueologiaUV, whose insightful explanations added a profound layer of inspiration to our visit!

Once upon a Hillside, by Angela McAllister. Rich and enjoyable #archaeology book for kids, this. 'Seven stories, one hillside, 6000 years'. Objects from one story resurface in later periods, threading links against the common setting of the home hillside. Recommendations for similar long-term lanscape books for young enquiring minds would be welcome.
