🐬András will dive deep into #OpenThread technology and showcase the newly developed Flipper Zero Thread radio extension board. Insights into Thread network configurations, security risks, and a hands-on demo—including modifying an NRF USB dongle for Flipper Zero compatibility.

I've started playing with #homeautomation stuff on @fedora again, not got far! So far I've:
* Gone to build Zephyr RTOS for #openthread , failed, but upgraded the cross tools to the latest binutils/GCC
* Gone to make a container for #mosquitto, failed but fixed 4 bugs for running it in a container, one in libwebsockets, and filed an upstream PR
* To run a MODBUS to MQTT app it needs a newer paho.mqtt python library and discovered I need to fix 3 other apps to upgrade it!
Total #Fail!

Last week, the #ThreadGroup was proud to participate in the IETF 120 Vancouver Hackathon. We were thrilled to introduce our low-power wireless IPv6 mesh to the participants, helping them to build their first #OpenThread software projects. Thanks to Apple, SmartThings, and Silicon Labs for providing expert guidance and dev kits for participants.

@jpm I usually bounce between vendors depending on the application.

STM32s can be hard to come by at times, although I have a couple of such models in stock.

RP2040 (aka Pi Pico) looks interesting, but not yet taken the plunge.

I have a use case actually that calls for a wireless solution: a replacement doorbell. We just bought a new one, but it's only a matter of time before that 433MHz piece of crap keels over.

So the thinking is use #OpenThread to make a new one… that favours the nRF52840 since it's supported by OpenThread.

Well… I think I'm hours away from an #anniversary.

12 months ago I observed a lot of #InfoSec people seemingly jumping ship from the social network formerly known as #Twitter, to the Fediverse.

I never joined commercial platforms like Facebook or Twitter. I never "got" Twitter… just seemed to be lots of out-of-context quotes with no apparent "flow". #Facebook seemed like a duplication of what my blog does.

I briefly considered joining an existing instance… maybe mastodon.radio (since I have an #AmateurRadio license)… infosec.exchange (since I have an interest in #InfoSec), theblower.au (since I'm Australian)… then thought… f-it, I'll just start my own like I did for everything else.

Today marks a year since I followed the Join Mastodon guide installing Mastodon in a blank VM and getting myself federated.

I've slowly gotten used to the quirks of this system, and the customs of the people that use it. (Customs which are wide and varied… a good thing!)

As an #introduction (long overdue)… I work in IT doing software engineering, mostly writing device drivers for energy meters to use in a fork of #NodeRED… also do some embedded #OpenThread work (mostly TI CC2538). Outside of work, I have an interest in programming and networks.

I got my radio license in early 2008, initially as VK4FSJL, then upgraded to the standard license I have now 8 months later.

I am on the #ASD spectrum, being diagnosed as "high-functioning Autistic" back in 1987.

I've got three big passions in my life, #OpenSource, #Radio (both commercial and amateur) and #Music. I consider myself a music luddite, listening mostly to popular music: my collection presently spans 1935 ~ 2023 with the vast majority of it falling between 1960 and 1990.

Started with #Linux back in 1996, now almost exclusively a Linux user on the desktop, with a couple of servers running #OpenBSD, and some dabbling in other OSes like #NetBSD. I consider Microsoft Windows a legacy operating system unsuited to production use.

Staunch #RightToRepair advocate. I support #Transgender and #Disabled peoples' right to fair and just treatment. #AntiFacist. #NonDriver #Pedestrian and #Cyclist.

New #OpenThread on #nepotism & on #egostical #parents using their kids to become #famous because they couldn't reach their own #goals on becoming #celebrities & how they're #abusive to their kids. They're #StageParents & their #kids feel like they have to perform well or lose their #parents affections. It's actually a form of emotional #ChildAbuse & I recognize it fast. I don't tolerate it. I don't respect it. I think parents like that - are shitty self absorbed folks who don't deserve kids.
