Thousands of Sandhill Cranes in view now on Audubon's Rowe Sanctuary Crane Camera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDYrRVUPWRo
I'm greatly looking forward to my first-ever visit, coming up real soon. Hope the cranes are still there.
Every March and April, over a million Sandhill Cranes converge on the Platte River Valley in central #Nebraska to fuel up before continuing north to their nesting grounds. Audubon’s Rowe Sanctuary is at the heart of this magnificent crane staging area.

“Seeking a Sandbar”
Thousands of sandhill cranes return to the sandbars in the Platte River near Kearney, Nebraska last week after feeding in the nearby cornfields.

Birdwatchers flock to #Nebraska for the ancient migration of Sandhill Cranes
"Around one million #SandhillCranes are passing through an 80-mile stretch of the #PlatteRiver on the way to their northern nesting grounds in Alaska, Canada and Siberia."
They journey nearly 5,000 miles.
The Platte River stretches the length of #Nebraska from west to east. The North Platte area is in western Nebraska, while the Chapman to Overton stretch of the river is in south central Nebraska.
Incredibly large numbers of #sandhillcranes stop along the #PlatteRiver at this time of year on their journey north. It is breathtaking to see so many of these magnificent #birds and hear their call.
The #PlatteRiver is always a wide, shallow river, but this is unusually low. This is on the south side of Columbus, #Nebraska.
