#Safeway is now locking up ice cream. In case you were curious about the state of society.
In order to save money on soda, I'm now buying it at 7-Eleven, because it's cheaper than Safeway right now.
The world makes no sense to me anymore.
I did most of my shopping this week at Lucky's as Safeway has been a frustrating experience as of late...
but i still needed to pick up a few items at Safeway anyway, such as milk
There was no 2% milk
I've seen this same situation with other items in recent weeks at Safeway.
I talked to the checker about it, and he said they didn't receive their shipment. He also alluded to not having enough workers scheduled.
Something is VERY wrong at Safeway.
Representatives of the gathered farmworkers asked to speak with the #Safeway store mgmt about the situation at #WindmillFarms - where workers have faced retaliation for trying to go #UNION
The store director said she'd be happy to talk with them & would follow them outside. She didn't follow... just left them hanging out waiting
I went in & bought 1 item, & told the an asst mngr I thought that was truly cowardly & #shameful & that I wouldn't buy anything else there again
I'm at #Safeway in #Tacoma with around ~100 #workers demanding that #WindmillFarms stop retaliating against their efforts to organize

No Justice, No Mushrooms!
I went to Lucky's to check out their pricing. There's this odd phenomenon where they sometimes come close to matching Safeway's pricing.
Collusion?
A 20 fl oz Mountain Dew is $3.29 there, but if you buy 2, you get them for $2.25 each, which is probably close to the REAL pricing for the product.
At least their 2 litter is more expensive at $3.99 (which seems high!), but is $2.50 if you buy 2.
What's with the multiple/combo buys?!
It amazes me 7-Eleven is STILL cheaper if you simply buy a single bottle.
By the way, the Lucky's checker reminded me that you need to use the mobile app to achieve additional savings. Shades of Safeway.
Basically you have to jump through hoops for savings.
I'm going to need to perform a Target run to see what they're charging. I'm beginning to wonder if I need to shop there more often.
I'm also wondering if prices are creeping up in groceries in general.
I noticed something when I was at the store yesterday to pick up one item. I thought about picking up a 20 fl oz Mountain Dew as well, which Safeway is selling for $3.49. What?!
If you buy a 2 liter bottle, a larger size of Mountain Drew at Safeway, it's $3.29, or .20 cheaper. How is that possible?
If you buy a 20 fl oz Mountain Dew at 7-Eleven, typically the most expensive way to buy anything, it's $2.69
Safeway is price gouging.
You could shop at 7-Eleven and save money
I've said this before, don't buy beverages of any kind at Safeway.
So Safeway continues to understock and it's not entirely clear if they're removing brands in favor of their own. Today I noticed the water section is now almost entirely dominated by their own inhouse Select brand. It's weird when you walk down an isle and everything is the same. What happened to Arrowhead? What happened to Crystal Geyser? The only other brand present was Pure Life and it was all distilled.
Are they having supply chain issues? Are there cash flow problems? Was the shipment hijacked because it also included eggs?

Shame on you Safeway for deceptive sale prices!
Figi water at Safeway right now shows it's $6.99... but if you read the exceptionally tiny print below the price tag, it says you also have to buy a certain brand of pistachio nuts to get the deal. Otherwise you're likely getting charged $9.49.
Now Safeway normally runs a "deal" on Figi water every other month or so for $6.99, otherwise you pay $9.49 (although it has gone higher at $9.99)
The true price of the product is around $7
Lucky's sells Figi water normally for $6.99 and Target $7.99, although both have had sales discounting it further.
It's never truly on sale at Safeway. It's just overpriced and they make you jump through hoops sometimes to make you feel like you achieved a deal, when they're simply giving you the actual price.
This multi-combination buy is just shameful.
They do the same with Pepsi and Coke products.
This is why I avoid buying beverages at Safeway.

Safeway faces city violation for keeping 2nd entry closed in effort to curb shoplifting
I'd side with Seattle on this. The local Safeway has one of its two doors closed permanently too, and that makes it unsafe for the shoppers on foot as we have to walk across the edge of the parking lot to get to the open door on the far end from the sidewalk. Sometime last year, a driver smashed their car into one of the columns between the two entrances. It could easily have been me had I been there.

Ran to Target this morning for my monthly savings trip on items that I refuse to buy at Safeway. Pepsi, for example, is $4 cheaper per 12 pack.
As I was checking out, the guy behind remarked that I was organized and efficient with unloading and reloading my cart. He said it was 'refreshing.'
Yeah. I do put some thought into organization.
It's just the way my mind works.
I'm playing grocery Tetris in my head.
#Tariffs will have an amplified impact on prices bc, in addition to higher direct costs, most companies will take advantage of the situation to further jack up prices. Can you imagine #Upchuck (starbucks) saying, coffee beans are more expensive but we're going to hold our prices to give customers a break? Or, #Safeway lowering avocado prices bc "Tariffs are hurting the economy!"
Pundits aren't covering this so allow me to be the first. The US #economy is fucked.
I was reading that Albertson's (Safeway) has reduced corporate employees this week.
It appears cost cutting measures were hinted at last year.
This is probably only the beginning.
I would imagine there's also considerations for underperforming stores and union employees.
I've said this before-- they appear to be understocking some items, and have so for months. If I go to a competing store, it's night and day difference in stocking.
It would seem that Safeway is trying to save money.
One might argue that this is hurting them as well, as you have to go to a competitor if you can't find an item.
