If I report toot, does the report go to the server owner?
Is there a way to report the server itself?
@0xZogG Reports go to the moderation tab of the server. The owner (and moderators) do have access to it.
@winni I think the instance itself is problematic one, thus I wonder how do I report instance and who do I report it to
@0xZogG I think you can write a report message when reporting. You could maybe add that the instance/domain should be blocked. Feel free to report one of my posts, so I can verify how the reports look (I haven't received one yet :D )
@winni not sure how it would help.
I found some propaganda account, wanted to report it and then saw that the whole instance is the same theme. So I assume the admin and mod of that instance and the whole instance is the issue. So reporting to them would not help, right?
@0xZogG Oh right. Gottcha. You could report the instance to your server admin, so the block them to not federate with your instance anymore, but that's the most one can do I believe.
@0xZogG Ok, I checked the documentation: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moderating/#report
If the accounts in question are federated with your instance and you click report, the report will go to the moderators of YOUR instance and you have the option to also send the report to the owner of the instance of the account in question.
@winni just reported the account
@0xZogG The report will always go to your server's moderation team. When using Mastodon you will have the option of forwarding an anonymous copy to the server of the reported profile/toot. Other software may handle reporting differently.
To report an entire server to your mod team you might want to DM your admin, or perhaps send a few example toots of users, and in the notes field suggest they consider suspending the whole server.
