Darcy @Obdurodon@hachyderm.io@thomasfuchs If mastodon.social is OK being the psu.edu of the era, shouldn't that be OK with the elitists too? Seems like they'd *want* to have a place where n00bs have to prove themselves before joining the cooler instances. They're doing elitism wrong. 
@thomasfuchs Just to be clear, I'm *poking fun* at elitism generally, and the inherent silliness of exercising it in this context As long as this is done with mastodon.social's consent (i.e. not an unwelcome DDoS) it's not really anyone else's business.
