Twitter certainly seems to be falling apart faster than anyone would have expected
@SFoskett Husk was an epic combination of chaos and determination... I didn't think I could be done this fast either but he proved me wrong
@SFoskett No reported downtime yet, right?
@kolkes not yet…
I guess I should have said Twitter since twitter is still running
@SFoskett I wonder who is moving off first. Is it the same early adopters that purchased iPhones, joined Facebook etc? If so, then maybe things won’t implode just yet. But it it’s the guy in the chip shop or your grandmother then it’s a mainstream migration and Twitter is in trouble.
@chrismevans The only thing Twitter has is critical mass. If a bit of that falls away the entire thing becomes unstable. It doesn't matter if a few nerds quit but if politicians, entertainers, and news quits it's useless.
@SFoskett Agreed. As I said on Slack, there's an opportunity for someone to step in (for corporates at least) and set up a commercial server for official accounts. not sure of the Ts&Cs on that in terms of the software, but someone will surely do it.
@chrismevans @SFoskett the software is AGPL. Remember that Truth Social had to delay its debut because it was using a custom Mastodon fork, but wasn't providing access to the derived source code, and got sued by SFC over the license violation.
@SFoskett Seriously think he paid $44B for the right to kill it on purpose.
