Sorry, but after reading all these takes about how folk need to eat their freezers and lash down their pets, someone finally understands the threat is flooding and debris flows.
Particularly in the areas this storm is going to be in. The parts that recently had a massive fire so all the chaparral waxed the ground.

I have been through many hurricanes.
Flooding is a threat but it won’t kill you deader than food borne illness, dehydration, or not having shelter because you didn’t plan for your pets.
Fill your bathtub so you can flush the toilet. That’s a more likely concern. Exciting? No.
@akareilly @jrconlin @thomasfuchs fair but desert flooding is very different because of how little rain deserts usually get. People should definitely be concerned about flooding, as well as the things you’ve mentioned.
My point is that the person I responded to seemed to dismiss the additional advice.
With climate change this is all “yes, and”.
