Inspired by today's edition of @sizzle, I took a moment to reflect on how huge Skype was in my life.
In 2007 when I first struck out and traveled solo, Skype became a lifeline home. So long as I could find some level of internet I could talk for limited cost. In 2008 I managed to get my GPRS enabled phone to tether to my Mac and got cheap calling to the world working.
Now days almost every messaging app has video/voice capabilities, but that wasn't true back then. Skype was a huge leap forward in communication that wasn't prohibitively expensive.
My Skype account is now long-forgotten, but its legacy lives on.
