It's been ten years since we lost Sir Terry Pratchett. He was a huge influence on my sense of humour, my writing style, and my outlook on life.
I am celebrating his life today by re-reading my first ever Discworld book.
(Ignore my soup, I'm also very hungry.)
I would have made this post earlier, but what with breakfast with my dad, cleaning and polishing my front door, wiping down my bathroom, hoovering my flat, working on my novel draft and making the soup, I literally haven't had the time.
I'm pretty busy for being unemployed.
Anyway, my partner just gave me what appears to be a Christmas pudding in custard (?) so I'm going to eat it and read my book.
@astronomerritt it's not a clootie dumpling is it?
@aoanla Apparently it's a Tesco Finest Christmas pud they found in the bottom of the Christmas hamper my parents gave us. Still in date, just about.
I'd rather it was a clootie dumpling though, they stick to the roof of the mouth less...
@astronomerritt I loved the whole series and in it is what is the funniest line I think I have ever read........
" The one horseman and three pedestrians of the apocalypse"
@SamanthaJaneSmith I don't think I could begin to pick a funniest line! Though that one is a good candidate.
@astronomerritt Your right of course, its just memorable. The man was a genius
@SamanthaJaneSmith You're absolutely right. I have no idea how he managed to write so many classic lines!
@astronomerritt my fav sub-series :D
@nothe mine too! my love for Vimes and Sybil cannot be underestimated
@astronomerritt and Carrot! :D
@astronomerritt I love the classic Josh Kirby covers.
@massimolauria They're so nostalgic. I mean, it often felt like he hadn't even read the book, as some of his depictions are honestly bizarre, but nevertheless his covers ARE Pratchett to me. Iconic.
@astronomerritt I believe that one was his favourite!
@zorrobandito I'd never heard that! It's certainly one of mine
@astronomerritt It’s my favorite!
@avirr it's one of the best!!
@astronomerritt this was also my first discworld book
@codeofamor it's such a great one to start with, right??
@astronomerritt I wish I could say I moved on to others. I don't remember.
@codeofamor that's a shame, I do recommend the sequel to this (Men At Arms) if you ever want to give it a try and see if you recall
@astronomerritt
This is one of his best.
Together with a few dozens of other the best ones, of course.
@vyskocilm You couldn't be more correct
