Was coughing a bunch the last few days due to my nose/sinuses, and tonight things became really bad, so after my usual methods failed, I decided to try doing a nasal douche.

Lined up my right nostril, tilted my head, squeezed the bottle and... the water went straight to my left ear canal. Instant pain and grossness

Now I'm trying to get the samty nasal douche water out of my ear & have tried everything 😖😖

(Only thing I haven't tried is warmed olive oil in the ear and extra water in the ear)

@thisismissem If you flushed your nasal bacteria into your ear canal you can easily get a otitis media which, in my experience, easily tops pain and feelings of discomfort during a sinus infection.

My advice: go see an ENT (HNO in Germany) asap.

PS: With a nasal douche, never tilt your head too far and also squeezing shouldn‘t be necessary if applied correctly.

@nevarro well, TIL, I must've translated the instructions wrong. I'll probably go to my GP Friday morning & then ENT from there. Hoping it's possible to just flush my ear & get the water out, as I don't have a good ENT doctor currently

Check out the Naväge Nasal Irrigation Kit. It works wonders for me, and never leaks into the wrong places.

@badnetmask @nevarro I'm pretty sure its just all the pipes in my head up there are f'ed — I've already had my nose completely rebuilt a few years ago

Well, Naväge pushes water from one side, and sucks it from the other, so it most likely prevents it from slipping away. (Not a paid post)
