Unable to use the internet archive wayback machine right now and apparently this is the reason why
I don't know how/if I can use mastodon/fediverse for this particular use case ("a major site appears down, let's see what's being said about that").
Or can I? Any tips on that kind of thing appreciated.
googled "mschf" and I guess it's an "art collective"? No idea why that would be connected to a denial of service attack on internet archive.
I see Jason Scott aka textfiles has a fediverse presence at @textfiles with activity earlier today but his posts on this situation are on twitter and not here :(
oh hey it's working for me again
ugh, nope again, now getting 429 responses :(
hm, I see the tweet I linked to at the top of this thread is now deleted and there is this update on the subject
@charlieok Mastodon is not for complaining.
@textfiles this for me was all in the spirit of "moving previous uses of twitter off of twitter". Apologies if it came off as complaining. I love what you've built at the internet archive and rely on it. Thanks for all you do!
@charlieok I was tired and unclear. I mean mastodon is not for ME complaining.
@textfiles fair enough I suppose:)
On the other hand, as one who really got on board the bandwagon of denying Elon twitter the attention that he/it craves, it’s continually frustrating whenever that is the place a relevant conversation is happening. Even if it’s complaining.
