And I see a *lot* of #mastodon users getting excited at seeing Person X on mastodon, not realizing it's just a one-way pipe from Twitter.
Do people who have bird.makeup bots even know that bird.makeup has done this? smh

@constantorbit No they don’t know and it’s not something bird.makeup does by default. Anyone can use the site to create the integration to have the accounts cross post here.
I’ve done it for several local news stations that will never migrate here but I still want to view their posts since I no longer use Twitter.

@constantorbit @wendynather There are, unfortunately, a few specific accounts that I follow that way so I can see their posts without dealing with Twitter. But it does make me sad that they’re not bothering to come over here, and it creates a rift. Not only can I not as easily converse with them, but it raises questions like, “Do they agree with what Musk is doing? Do I still want to be their friend?”
