The National Weather Service, one of the few parts of the United States Government that does genuine good and nothing else, now has a website that is functionally inaccessible without a JavaScript-contaminated "Web" browser.

Weather.gov, the homepage of the US National Weather Service. There is a search box for accessing a local weather forecast in the upper-left corner of the page. In this screenshot, I have the city filled in, "socorro, nm", and I'm about to click on the "Go" button.
After clicking "Go" to access a local forecast, a completely blank page is all that loads because I have JavaScript blocked.
The HTML source code of the blank page, incomplete, improper, and short enough to include in this description box. The lone scrap of meat in this computationally greasy fat is "window.location.href='https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=NMZ220&zflg=1'", a command to do slowly in JavaScript what the <A> tag does rapidly in HTML: Go to another page.
The page that apparently needs so much JavaScript to load, still loads mostly fine and completely serviceable in a fast Web browser. However, the quick outlook represented by weather event icons is gone, and the detailed forecast is no longer tailored for the city. (They're also missing/changed with JavaScript enabled, because the target page is for a large zone now, not a specific GPS coordinate.)

I am so fucking tired of everyone and their mother deciding that reinventing pure and simple HTML in fucking supercomputer-needing slow as script JavaShit is somehow the better future of the World Wide Web.

YOUR WEBSITE IS NOT THE ONLY APPLICATION I NEED TO RUN AT A SINGLE TIME! YOUR WEBSITE SHOULDN'T EVEN **BE** A FUCKING APPLICATION JUST TO SHOW SIMPLE TEXT, YOU TECHBRO-ADMIRING DUMBASSES!

Additional forecasts and information available via the local forecast page includes "Text Only Forecast", a link which is highlighted and ready to click. It's supposed to lead to an even simpler HTML page without images.
The link from "Text Only Forecast" leads to another blank page because, again for both speed and security, I don't allow random JavaScript to run roughshod over my personal computer.
The page is blank because the HTML source code is a JavaScript directive: "<script language='javascript'>window.location.href='https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=NMZ220&zflg=1'</script>" Worth noting is that the URL appears exactly the same as the URL just departed.
After clicking the link to "Text Only Forecast," the page that loads is definitely not the promised text-only forecast page. JavaScript was needed for some reason to simply go back to the page just left but in a forward direction.

The irony of complaining about websites turned applications is not lost on me, one who runs and pays the bills for a website turned application that I'm using to voice that complaint.

@arielmt I don't think it's ironic. A dynamic realtime communications platform is different from a source of information with a single controlling entity providing it for you to read.

@arielmt With that said, I would utterly love a fediverse microblog implementation that serves entirely static html for your feeds and optionally updates when you interact with first-gen ajax mechanisms, falling back gracefully to page reload if js is disabled.
