I know we’re supposed to become more conservative as we age, but I’ve become quite radical. For example, I believe government should exist and should help people.
@tiffanycli Boomers became more conservative as they aged. They also spent 50 years breathing massive quantities of tetraethyl-lead exhaust fumes.
@landley @tiffanycli Are you sure there's even good evidence that they did. There's a lot of survivorship bias and different baselines.
@dalias @tiffanycli Oh sure. Multiple causes at work here, and "became" is collective not individual.
@landley @tiffanycli That's the thing though. People interpret (IMO rightly because the statement is made in terms of individual members not the collective group) "became" as a pointwise change not an aggregate.
@dalias @tiffanycli I've watched multiple individual boomers ossify into a loon. Didn't used to be crazy, became crazy.
@landley @tiffanycli Oh yeah there are definitely many individual cases.
