@dpflug Just re-checked all these. They are as permissive as possible.
@davidr
thereare more settings than those avoidace, and they differ by transport chosen. For example "driving style". You can more easily play around with settings at hrrps://osmand.net/map. That being said, if you really want to tweak the routing exactly as you'd like, I can suggest #BRouter support built into #OsmAnd.
@dpflug
@davidr Yes, different surfaces can influence which route is considered best! And for easily tagging those missing #openstreetmap surfaces while you're on the ground, I can recommend #StreetComplete app
@mnalis Good idea. I have that app but I didn't think to use it for this.
I don't know what connection you have to brouter. Do you know why it might list some sections of road as "unknown" surface when OSM has it as asphalt? Surrounding sections have no problem. (I realize there's a day lag to brouter--these are areas I haven't even edited.)
@davidr I'm Just a #brouter user. I've only seen unknown when the `surface=` data was missing, so I have no explanation besides lag. Maybe looking up that way history on OSM, maybe it was changed recently by someone else? or lag is bigger than 24h? Does it happen only in OsmAnd brouter, or also on https://brouter.de/brouter-web/ ? Or maybe it uses very closeby cycleway which does not have surface?
@mnalis It looks like some edits just take an extra day to show up. I think all the surfaces and speeds are fixed now and there's still a few days before OSMAnd will get an update, so I should be fine.
I should take the longer route this morning so I have a track to compare against...
