What have I been up to lately? Just getting #WordPerfect for #DOS to run in DOSBox. It even prints, sort of, by way of PostScript files.
I can’t wait to play around with this even more. I actually used WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS as a kid, and I have fond memories of it.
@digichelle WP for DOS was and remains a nearly perfect program. I have almost no wishes for changes. It can even support higher text mode resolutions.
@mos_8502 I agree wholeheartedly. I’m tempted to make this setup my actual go-to word processor, despite having many other options at my disposal.
@digichelle I wrote my very first short story in WP for DOS. I still have it on 5.25" floppy somewhere. =]
@ryansouthwick I wish I had preserved all my old floppies. I’m sure there are some gems in there, along with countless artifacts of my misspent youth.
@digichelle Yes! I had a host of choose-your-own-adventure games written in GW Basic. I'm sure they were terrible.
@digichelle Aah, yes.
'Are other copies of Word Perfect currently running?'
Said the annoying message when your system would crash out with sometimes an 'A20 Hardware Error.'
I remember the days...
@FreakyFwoof Fortunately for me, I ran into very few errors with WordPerfect back in the day. That said, I do remember those particular glitches!
@digichelle I think I heard about this but have never used it. I used WordStar instead.
@neofreko Your situation is more or less the opposite of mine. I heard of WordStar, but never used it back in the day.
@digichelle This makes me very happy.
