lmao this is the most thinly veiled “rust makes me feel old and itrelevant” take I’ve read all year, but it’s only February antirez.com/news/145

antirez.comWe are destroying software - <antirez>
Francesco Degrassi

@fasterthanlime are there any specific elements that make you think the post is aimed at ?
I’m afraid I’m missing some context here; still, yeah, let me implement a linked list one more time :/

@edmcbane @fasterthanlime probably due to the authors opinion stated elsewhere, would be my guess.

@laund @edmcbane @fasterthanlime

i had to look it up, apparently that blog belongs to the person who originally created redis

@guenther @edmcbane yeah looking further i don't find any mention of the author having anything against Rust, so i'd also like to know how you came to that conclusion @fasterthanlime

@laund @edmcbane @fasterthanlime

> We are destroying software by jumping on every new language, paradigm, and framework.

I think this is a pretty classical "conservative developer" mindset, and considering all the dogpiling on rust from C developers (especially coming from the linux project) that is happening right now it's hard to interpret this as otherwise.

> We are destroying software pushing for rewrites of things that work.

Yeah...
