Ellie Huxtable

this thingy is cool!

borrowing from a friend right now to compare it with my moonlander, but I like how small it is.

I think I prefer it, but will know for sure in a couple weeks

(it's a ZSA voyager)

@ellie Just got mine the other week, loving it sooooo much =D
First ortho-linear keyboard that I have though, so I'm still struggling a bit with hitting the right buttons

@axelrafn yes! they're so good!

It's a bit more staggered than what I am used to. I'm mostly struggling with left shift, but we will get there

@ellie it's a wonderful experience and adventure =D
Also love the layout editor, I'm at three layers right now and might see layer 4 for macros even.

Love how you can move everything around to fit your needs and it stays on the keyboard regardless of what device you hook up to =D

@ellie love our corne split wireless, fits in our purse!

on tip, especially if carrying the keyboard around, get some 3M microsuction tape so it stays put when you put it somewhere

@rho oooh that's also one I was looking at!

great idea, I’ll order some. thank you!

@ellie That is so adorable! I’m not sure what I would do without all my extra keys though. Do you have to use layers a lot more?

@samir it’s not toooo restrictive, but yes a bit more layer usage

I also have a Planck, which got me used to the whole layer thing. even fewer keys!

@ellie One day I’m gonna have to get used to layers. Right now I tend to load everything up on layer 1 except function keys and the like.

I love my silly keys too. I’ve got a Ctrl+Alt key, one for the tmux leader key (Ctrl+B), got an emoji key, an underscore key (thanks, Rust)… where would I put all of those? 😛

Regardless, I am very glad you’re having fun with it. 😄

@ellie I ordered one of these puppies about a week and a bit ago, just waiting for it to ship! Can’t wait 😃

@ellie I prefer it to the moonlander. It’s not perfect, and something in between a piantor and voyager would be ideal for me. But I like the voyager enough that I got two of em

@ellie

I've been looking for something like the moonlander for my home setup.

How long did it take you adapt to the layout of the moonlander?

@ainmosni Hmmm so I could type at an OK-ish speed after a day or two. Like enough that I could still work fine, but there was a bit of a mental tax

After a week or two I was at or surpassing my old speed.

I've used a bunch of different layouts in the past though, and regularly try new boards. So I'm quite used to relearning things.

@ellie

Hmmm, even if I would assume I would need 4 weeks for getting back to my normal speed, that sounds like it might be worth it for my posture.

@ainmosni definitely worth it for posture imo! my back and shoulders are far happier now

@ellie so after using this for a while, would you recommend it for a (British) developer?

@z0mbix yes! I love it. I’m very comfortable with non British layouts though, and haven’t used one for a long time
