If you use Signal and your threat model includes Russian state actors, make sure your version of Signal is up to date in order to harden your account against these attacks: https://cloud.google.com/blog/topics/threat-intelligence/russia-targeting-signal-messenger/
@evacide This is actually the only advantage of only being able to link 5 devices.
@gideonstar @evacide "sorry, I can't scan your qr code Mr FSB agent, unfortunately I'm already being spied on by The CIA, GCHQ, ASD, MSS and Mossad, you'll have to ask one of them to stop monitoring first before you can have access"
I was suprised at how many different attempts there are at exploiting weaknesses in (and around) Signal by Russia aligned actors.
What this means is that a similar number must exist for west aligned actors - we're just not told about them.
Tell me if this line of thinking is flawed.
( suddenly even more people are seeing the US as a source of threat )
@rzeta0 you're spot on. If one #nationstate is doing something, you can be pretty sure that others are too - it's not just limited to China and Russia as some will have you believe. In fact, a QR code #phishing scheme seems pretty lame compared to the #capabilities we see coming out of mercenary #spyware companies, let alone powerful nation states.
