Like… look.

A silence is a perfectly legitimate thing to do on your instance, it will keep them out of public timelines. You yourself can block the for any or no reason.

But when you block them as a server you are blocking them on behalf of your users.

Can you? Sure.

But WHY? What are you looking to accomplish by doing that?

It mostly just seems to discourage news organizations other than the BBC from doing the exact things they've been told to do in order to come here.

@emc2 @hrefna I’m surprised to see the pro-defed instances not working on an allowlist-only basis - as in, blocking everything and everyone preemptively unless the instance gets the blessing of the clique.
